Infrastructure & Connectivity

Infrastructure

Underpinning Medini is a multi-layered infrastructure network which consists of a new toll-free coastal highway that cuts journey times to Johor Bahru in half, internal and connector roads, utilities such as sewage treatment plants and power plants, telecommunications capabilities, as well as safety and security features. Medini is within 400km of five ports – three in Malaysia and two in Singapore— and two international airports, while the two causeways linking Malaysia to Singapore are minutes away by car. This new logistical infrastructure grants connectivity benefits to any organisation that operates from the area.

Construction of the advanced road network commenced in 2008 as part of the 9th Malaysia Plan. Completion dates can be seen here:

Smart + Connected Nusajaya

The ambition of Smart + Connected Nusajaya is for everyone – governments, service providers, private enterprises and citizens— to share data across a common broadband network, or Service Delivery Platform (SDP). The platform uses intelligent networking capabilities to weave together people, services, community assets, and information into a single pervasive solution.

In a landmark agreement, Iskandar Investment and UEM Land Holdings (UEM) jointly announced their collaboration with Cisco to develop a masterplan that will transform Nusajaya into a Smart + Connected Community. The deal will see the creation of a core city network that will connect up individual smart buildings of home, office, school, hospital etc, to a central city management bank.

When these buildings are linked, it will enable people to manage energy usage in their homes, work in a combination of physical and virtual offices, interact with students and teachers around the world, obtain health care regardless of location, make greener choices about how they travel, enjoy a more personalised, more productive shopping experience and to connect seamlessly with one another.

Smart + Connected Nusajaya is designed to enhance the quality of life for those living and working in, and surrounding, Iskandar Investment’s landbank. The project is a key example of our mission to create value for all stakeholders.

Nusajaya Five O

IIB and UEM Land have teamed up to create Nusajaya Five O Sdn Bhd (N5O), a fully-fledged security service company to provide enhanced security for Nusajaya and its CBD, Medini. The first phase of N5O will see 20 auxiliary police deployed in critical areas such as Custom, Immigration and Quarantine (“CIQ”) Checkpoints and Security Command & Control (“C2”) Centres as well as on patrol in public places like Puteri Harbor, Kota Iskandar, LEGOLAND® Malaysia, the Nusajaya Loop (a ring road traversing the key catalyst developments in Nusajaya) and for the public’s immediate protection.

By 2015, N5O is expected to have an estimated 160 AP officers assigned to secure Nusajaya and protect its residents and property.
